About the artist

Edgar Solórzano

Edgar is an artist whose practice is deeply influenced by his studies in architecture at the Faculty of Architecture – UNAM and Bauhaus Universität Weimar. Currently based in Mexico City, Edgar’s work intricately weaves together architectural principles and artistic exploration.

Edgar's work centers on the interplay between objects, spaces, and the emotional memories they hold. He articulates, “My work engages in questioning the objectual and spatial representation by finding precision through personal experience. I explore ways to highlight the value of emotional memory over physical memory by investigating the emotional ties we hold with objects and spaces through the memories contained within them.” His art serves as an archive of spatial research methodologies on different scales, aiming to uncover the invisible, inherent, and emotional relationships within.

A recipient of the prestigious “Fulbright – García Robles” scholarship and the “Young Creators” scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Edgar’s accolades include winning First Place in the Open Lumen Biennial and being a finalist twice in the JA Monroy Biennial. His collaborative and individual exhibitions span notable venues such as the Museo Jumex and Laboratorio Arte Alameda in Mexico City. Additionally, he has participated in the SOMA program and completed the Piso 16 program: Laboratory of Cultural Initiatives, UNAM.

Edgar’s work has been exhibited both individually and collectively across Mexico, Spain, Germany, the United States, and Colombia, and is included in public and private collections in Mexico, Colombia, and the United States.
